Northumberland School Games

Northumberland School Games

Ten lucky Year 5 and 6 pupils were selected to represent North Northumberland in the Northumberland Games at Cramlington Learning Village.  They participated alongside 1500 other competitors, from various First, Middle and Senior schools from across the region, who were competing in various sports.  We joined the parade from the Leisure Centre to the Learning Village alongside the other North Northumberland competitors and were entertained by various schools singing and dancing along the way.

Our pupils took part in the Athletics section which comprised of the Standing Long Jump, 75m sprint, 600m and a throwing event.  The competition was high, on what was a warm and sunny day, with some outstanding performances from our pupils.  At the end of the competition we gathered together for the medal ceremony for all sports.  Our pupils clapped and cheered for all the medal winners and were a credit to the school in their sportsmanship and behaviour even in their disappointed in not winning.

The highlight of the day came when they got their competitors T-shirts signed by Tamara Taylor, an England Rugby World Cup winner, who gave an inspiring speech about working towards your goals and always giving your best.
