Road Closure Message from Northumberland County Council

25th February 2015

NOTICE OF RESURFACING WORKS

AS PART OF OUR INVESTMENT INTO ROADS AND TRANSPORT THIS YEAR - CARRIAGEWAY REPAIRS WILL BE CARRIED OUT ON

WAGONWAY ROAD, ALNWICK

BETWEEN THE FOLLOWING DATES:

9th March 2015 To 24th March 2015

SIGNS WILL BE ERECTED IN ADVANCE OF THE WORKS

We will be carrying out carriageway reconstruction at the location indicated below.

The Main contractors for the works will be Northumberland County Council

The resurfacing works are estimated to take up to 14 days weather permitting.

Any ironwork replacement/repairs will be carried out prior to surfacing works commencing.

The surfacing works will need to be carried out under PHASED ROAD CLOSURES.

The work will be carried out in sections to minimise disruption as much as possible

Diversions will be put in place for each section

This will allow the work to be carried out more expediently and safely.

Emergency vehicles will be allowed access at all times.

Access for residents will not be possible between 8am and 4pm whilst the surfacing operations are progressed in each section. Cars will need to be parked outside the section being resurfaced if they need to be used through the day. Please consult with site staff to determine which area is going to be closed. Data boards will also be erected stating which areas are going to be closed.

Works will progress from East to West.

It is hoped that the sections will be opened up at night so residents will be able to gain access, but this cannot be guaranteed

Please adhere to all instructions given by site staff who will be on site during working hours to assist with pedestrian and vehicular management.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Members of the public must not attempt to cross the site when surfacing operations are being carried out as the surfacing material is very hot. Please keep within the designated walkways.

Every effort will be made to minimise the effects and duration of the works, however some disruption will be inevitable.

Should you need any further information please telephone the County Council’s Contact Centre on: 0845 600 6400 and ask for the Surfacing Manager for the scheme, John Haddon

We will make every effort to answer any queries
